Somebody translated the Star Spangled Banner into Spanish. Supposedly there are some folks out there who think this is a bad thing. Downright Un-American, even! There's even some congressperson who wants to pass a law that the Star Spangled Banner MUST be sung in English.
Have brains suddenly started leaking fluid in Washington or have people been this dense all along. Since the whole point of this blog is to give me a place to opine on things that are outside of my cultural sphere and since I'm neither Hispanic nor an idiotic bigot so, I am compelled to post the patently obvious to desperately dense.
Look, people - Puerto Rico IS America. The language they speak is SPANISH. When you are born in that Spanish Speaking land, you are automatically AN AMERICAN CITIZEN. If you pass that law, you are saying that you want to prevent American Citizens from singing their National Anthem IN THEIR NATIVE TOUNGUE.
